As an employee of the Met, I am fortunate enough to get tickets at a greatly reduced price, or free standing room!!! Because of this, when I first started working here, I was determined to bring my daughter(shes the one in my profile pic) and expose her to the fabulous world of opera and ballet. From the time the breath-taking chandeliers go up, to the final curtain call, it is a time of magic for myself and a chance to travel to whatever place and time that the perf. is set in. To my joy, and partial amazement, not only did she not resist these mother daughter dates, she looks foward to them. She tells all of her friends(one left during first intermission of a perf. and tried to convince her to leave too, didnt happen) and teachers about the performances, and at times, even invites them along. I cherish these moments so much, as does she. I truly enjoy looking through the photos of her, as she went from an awkward pre-teen to an absolutely stunning young lady. I hope as she ages, she will always hold these times as dear to her heart as I do.
